Planet Waves has there own version of strap locks which are attached right to the strap. Anyone ever use this product? Is it reliable? Does it scratch the guitar? It looks like a piece of plastic that clips over the strap button. I haven't seen them in real time, only online!

The Schallers Fender supplies with higher end models are nice. I think Dunlop and DiMarzio both make a similar product. Here's a trick you can use in a pinch: keep the little flat plastic clips that come with bags of bread and buns and toss 'em in your case. Slide them on your strap button (after your strap) and they'll be one layer of insurance to keep your strap from slipping off.

I've switched to using the Dunlop ones.

I had tried Schallers but they don't fit too well on a Fender Deluxe Wide Guitar Strap - the strap is very thick at the end.

i used to have a strap that had the plastic lock things on the ends. I thought it would break after a while, but it actually held pretty good. it does scratch around the strap button though.

when I got my strat, I bought some dunlop ones, and they work amazing. totally worth the 15 bucks for them.

I like Schallers as well, as I have them on a few of my guitars. But what I really prefer to use are the DiMarzio Cliplock straps. These are the most secure and most affordable solution, because the cliplock strap costs much less than what a set of straplocks and a quality strap would cost.

I like Schaller's but I hated to have to rout out the holes in the straps to make them bigger so the Schaller's would fit. Said hell with it and went with Dunlops.

The Schaller strap locks, as Fender provides, are a great way to avoid seeing how high your guitar/bass will bounce off the stage. However the Dunlop Strap Locks are a better engineered product. The Schaller strap locks tend to bind and squeak, which depending on the instrument, can be heard thru the amp via the pickups. Neither product will damage your finish due to how they attach to the strap button. If you have a vintage axe, you may wish to use the flat disc strap locks, from Dunlop, like someone stated previously in this thread, to maintain period coorect appearance and possibly the all original statius of the instrument.
As a experienced guitar tech, I would recommend the Dunlop Straploks.

Are you talking about the Dunlop Ergo Loks?

I'm confident with Dunlops and Schallers although I favor Dunlops. YMMV.

I use the Dunlop Dual Design ones. They come in 3 colors and are pretty foolproof.
