So, I've been playing for about 4-5 years now and all I have is a Boss DS-1, a Line6 Echo park and a distortion stomper made by my girlfriend's dad 8) .
I was thinking of getting acquainted with more various effects, but I don't know all of them. For example, I still don't have a clear idea of what a compressor does. Also, why would a volume pedal be needed? Then there are those analog thingies and well, anyway. Could you guys give me the 101 on effects?

Stereo inputs allow you to run the effect "in stereo" which means panning the effect to 2 amps in most cases.

For example, by plugging Amp A into stereo IN, and Amp B into the Stereo OUT on a delay pedal is a great idea. This seperates the delay & pans it to both amps. the effect is cool because the delay bounces from amp to amp creating a "wall of echo" sound. Try this with chorus, delay, reverb...it's a nice effect.

Have any of you guys ever tried an MXR EVH Flanger? I've got the MXR EVH Phaser, and love it. I'm seeing the flanger on e-bay, for what seems to be a very good price. I'd appreciate some feedback, thanks in advance. Hope the OP doesn't mind be asking, I'm not in the habit of hijacking threads

Thanks Thomas, I found a few vids with demo's. I like the sound of this flanger, and how it's built. I'll stick a bid on it, and see if I'm lucky.

I do not mind :)
When I get a new amp, I'll try my echopark with 2 amps. Sweet.

You can also hear the Stereo effects even if you have one amp such as the Marshall combo amps that are stereo that have 2 speakers in 'em. It's just better with 2 amps spread apart because you can hear the seperation of the stereo better than one amp that goes from left to right speaker and with the speakers being so close in one amp, the stereo seperation isn't as effective.
