Hi. I bought a Fender Deluxe Strat (MIM). It comes with Vintage Noiseless Pickups. My problem is that it only is noiseless when the volume knob is at 10. But if I roll it down to 9 or 8, it begins to hum... but very loud! I have another strat (ceramic pickups) and it doesn't have that kind of hum. What can it be? Thanks for the help!

You are right... I should have returned it when I could. Now it's too late, I think.

But I will try to change the volume pot. Maybe that solves the problem, hopefully.

Thanks!

It could be a bad solder.
I don't think it is the pot itself. Not sure without seeing and take some measurements.
It is a very strange issue what you heard.
Or it is a pickups issue ? Or wiring issue ?

Pots is cheap.

I have la lots of experience on fixing guitar and amp. I'm a tech and there are always something to learn.

Post few good picture from inside the guitar. Take lots of picture in case a new pot will not fix the issue. Pictures may help.

Do you have some experience in soldering electronics ?

Here a Deluxe Player Stratocaster wiring. I don't know if yours guitar. must be very close if not.

Stratele52, thank you very much!

That wiring diagram is better than the one I have (the original from Fender).

It's exactly as my guitar... except for the pots. The 3 of them are 1 meg pots in my guitar. I have seen that Fender changed that and now they come with 250k for the volume and 1 meg for both tone controls.

I will take some pictures of the wiring for you and upload them as soon as I can. Your opinion would really be helpfull, because as you said, it's a very strange problem.

Thanks again!

The diagram I show is a original from Fender.

Where your diagram come from ? From the guitar case ?
How do you know your guitar have a 1 meg pots ? Did remove the pickguard ?

With 1 meg volume pot the should should be very bright ? With 250 k it will loose ( some ? ) brightness

You say later Fender Deluxe Strat (MIM) come with 250 K volume pot.
Which year is yours ?

You did not answer if you know how to solder. If not, better to leave soldering to a pro. If is the issue. We don't know.
