Used this D-120 for years. Intrisically different sound, I guess due to no vent on rear housing, and the vent ported out front through the dust cover. Hassled JBL about it enough til some in-house, corporate historian said that it looked like a model that was used in an early, but later abandoned, Voice of Theater prototype with 12" lows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Anybody got any ideas? It's been stored for years, and I've been thinking about selling it, but if I don't even know what to call it.... (If you would like to see an pic, please tell me how to include; I am having trouble attaching.

Voice Of The Theater systems were designed, built, and sold by Altec-Lansing, not James B. Lansing.

Tech rep/"historian" may have meant a prototype designed to compete against Altec's Voice of the Theater.

Or may have just babbled some nonsense because he's paid minimum wage and doesn't really care.

Would love to see some pics. This forum doesn't host photos -- you have to upload your pics to a photo hosting site (like imgur) then paste a link.
