This weekend I pulled apart my new Squier Tele(2000 MII) and have a few questions about the electronics in it.

It has a humbucker in the neck. On the back there is a label that reads "PSLP-II/F/ALNICO". Any ideas about the quality of this pickup?

One of the pots is marked "ALPHA 500K". The other has a wire soldered to the casing so I can't read its marking. Is this a quality pot?

The switch is made by Cor-tek. What about it, is it any good?

I know Squiers are not known for the outstanding electronics, but I wanted to run this by the experts and see what you thought. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Does it sound okay to you?

Alnico pickups are fine, as are Alpha pots. The Cor-tek switch is used in many economy guitars, if it works, it's probably fine. Cor-Tek also makes pots, but not as good (in my experience) as Alpha brand.

I'll have to let you know. My wife surprised me with it the other day. I had seen it at a pawn shop, but never played it. She heard me talking about it and surprised me with it.

Other than plugging it in and making sure everything worked I haven't played it. I went ahead and tore it apart and cleaned it up and sheilded everything. I've got a set of Fender Gotoh tuners to put on it and I am going to throw a set up at it.
