Any cable used to send any kind of "sound" ( guitar to amp cable, speaker cab cable, to name a few) must have 2 conductor or two wires.
Guitar cable use a shield and a central conductor = 2 wires

Probably another one-time-poster, but....

There are boutique cables that use a single solid center conductor rather than stranded.

There are boutique cables that don't have any wires at all. They use wrapped foil for both inner and outer conductors.

And in the boutique snake oil world, some claim that a lot of fine strands is better/worse sounding than fewer thick strands.

Then there are floating shield designs. Those have two twisted center wires - hot and ground wires - with a foil or braided grounded shield that's only connected at the amp end.

Those cables are much more durable than traditional cables, and tend to have lower handling noise. Boutique snake oil adds claims that the symmetrical signal path sounds better.

Those cables started the "directional cable" bullcrap. It matters which end you plug into the amp -- but only because the floating shield needs to be connected to the amp's ground.

(I've got a pair of '82 Proco Lifelines like that. They just sound like any other good cable to me -- but 36 years of heavy use/abuse and still work perfectly.)

Obsessive, insecure guitarists and the people who want to take their money make even the simplest things complicated.
