What pickups are the best for getting the exact sound from the "Hey Joe" solo?

People are looking at your post but no answers yet so I will break the bad news to you. If you want to be exactly as Jimi then (1) You have to be Jimi and (2) You need the right amp and it has to be cranked up to the max. His guitars were basically single coil standard pickups.

I first heard this song by a band called "The Leaves" around 1970 or so, but Hendrix's version is the most popular (although I do like what Roy Buchanan did with it when I saw him "live" in the 70's).

I've gotten pretty close to nailing the solo sound using alnico 3 or alnico v type pickups through a high-gain setting with a mid boost and parametric EQ set to "contour" or shape the tone a bit.
