I have a set of pure vintage 65's in my strat and wondered if anyone successfully added a fender RWRP pickup to the middle and are happy with the results. Volume and tone wise so to speak. Something that complimented well?

Thanks!

No one ever do this? Not just a 65 set then.....how about any Fender set that did not have a RWRP that you've added a RWRP to then. Just to see if it worked out to your liking. Have any issues?

I was thinking about adding a Fat 50 RWRP middle. I know a Fender would be easiest as other brands would complicate matters with phase/direction of winding and polarity being not consistent with Fenders.

Both are Alnico 5 although one has beveled pole piece. The bevel may not bother me so much.

I don't really get the question...

A pickup is RWRP only in relation to other pickups (one or more) in the guitar. And a pickup's sound doesn't depend on the winding direction or the magnet's polarity.

With a RWRP one gets the hum cancelling. But RWRP and out-of-phase are two different things.

I am trying to say I am familiar with different brands are not equal to fender they way they are manufactured. I could buy brand "A" RWRP and it may not work with my existing set the way I assume it may if it were a Fender.

So if I have a non RWRP set and want to add a RWRP to middle who has done this and was happy with the results. In other words did the different pick-up get along tone and volume wise with the preexisting set. Or did the new pickup sound too loud or quiet or too bassy or too much treble.

I see how it seems like a silly question now as it's just a trial and error basis and I will just need to take the leap and try it and let my own ears decide. I just did not want to cut out my original wiring and modify if not really worth the trouble or results if too noticeable of a mismatch that did not work well together.

Maybe I will just leave all stock and alone and learn to use my volume knob more.

I put a rw/rp middle pickup in a Hwy 1 Strat and the 'quack' was a lot more pronounced
in the 2 and 4 positions.
