Hi, after playing on lace sensors for 30 years I had my original pick ups (1966) rewond and mounted on my Stratocaster. The sound (no need to say) is excellent! the only trouble is that I forgot that originaly , on that pic ups, the E and B string has much less volume because of the scattered poles. so, the question is, is there anybody who can give some suggestion/trick to solve (at least in part) the problem? Thanks to all.

Not really any options on a vintage pickup where the windings are in contact with the pole pieces.
The problem is, the vintage pickups were staggered to compensate for the strings commonly used at the time, which included a wound G.

The time to make the correction would have been to replace the pole pieces at the time of the rewind. More modern plastic-framed pickups can generally be gently corrected by pushing the poles up/down, but on your pickups, the winding is in direct contact and attempting to adjust the height will likely break the wire.

You're right Rich, but I didn't remember (after 30 years) that the wire were in contact with the poles and so..
What , in your opinion, if i get the two pole (B and E string) re-magnetized' just to have a little volume on the two strings? Thank you Rich.

Jumping in on the conversation...
On the remagnetizing idea, and with vintage pickups, that's something I'd absolutely a) discuss with a top grade pro, and b) let him/her/it do the whole job.

In general, if experimenting with strings (mixed gauge, wound G...) and pickup height (down on bass, up on treble) won't help, the easy fixes are out.
(We once tested with a partial base plate on a friend's Strat, but that idea didn't take...)

Think about putting the Laces back, if you liked them for three decades.
Or get a new, vintage-but-balance-corrected pickup set; plenty of manufacturers, who'll listen to what you need, to choose from.

Yep... my thought was to preserve the fresh rewinds and install a set of modern Fender or Duncans (ya, I'm partial) without staggered poles.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I like their sound too much to go back to Lace sensors (though they sound great) I rediscover the sound I used to hear when first bought my Stratocaster (52 years ago) I' ll try to use a G string 16 instead of 17.
Thank you all for your time spent with me.Francesco.
