A friend brought a Sqiuer stat over to be rewired. Said it wasn't working right. It has two humbuckers, three way switch, with volume, tone, tone. The original pickups were replaced with Mighty Mite MB's. I guess who ever installed the Mighty Mites thought they knew what they were doing. Is there a diagram for this setup?

What type of selector switch does it have?

Fender-style with side by side wiring terminals (4 on the right side and 4 or the left side)?

Or import-style with 8 terminals in a straight line?

And what's the malfunction?

Strayedstrater, thanks for the reply. It has the import style, 8 per side. The red, white, and shield were used for gorund and the green wire was not used.

Stew-Mac's Mighty Mite wiring diagrams:

http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Re ... grams.html

I've never dealt with the import 8 in-line switches. Sorry, my brain is too jumbled to deal with things I'll never use.

But something I've read is that some of the import 8 in-lines are very delicate and can be damaged while soldering. Maybe keep that in mind if you get the wiring sorted and it still gives you problems.

Hmmmm.

If the "MB" is the Motherbucker, they show red, black, white, blue, and bare. No green, but guessing that it's either greenish blue or they changed green to blue at some time.

If the guitar isn't set up for coil splitting, I'd try white + bare to ground, black to hot, and red + green connected together and taped off.

For splitting, red + green to a switch to ground.

Here's a page containing the "import" (or "off-shore" as they call it) switch specifications: http://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread ... r-switches

The pic below shows a HH Strat, 2 humbuckers, 1 vol, 2 tones with the import switch - no coil splits or other extras.
Personally, I change import style switches to Fender type if I do a rewiring on a Squier. Sometimes the control cavity needs a bit of woodworking to fit the deeper switch - I haven't routed any (thinner) bodies through, yet.

And for the MM MoB pickup wires, following what strayedstrater wrote:
Black from the pickup to the switch,
bare+white to ground,
red+green(blue?) soldered together and taped/shrinktubed out of the way.
Note the jumper wires on the switch.
And it might be tidier to solder the grounds via star grounding.
In case the (photobucket...) pic doesn't work, here's also the link (although also the proboards was down this morning...): http://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/3675

+1 Jmattis ,

Changing the import switch for a more "standard" switch will give access to lots of wiring diagrams

My part was only finding the diagram "Chris K" had drawn, so I appreciate the thanks but feel it's a bit undeserved...

On the diagram; it's missing the two Fender-typical ground wires; from spring claw and from the pickup cavity bottom's conductive paint (not sure if all Squiers have that latter one).
Adding one or both will make the grounding even more crowded, so there's another reason for that star ground mentioned above.

BTW; "Chris K" notes that in pos2, both tonepots function at the same time (which of course is again typical Fender). Anyone know what (if any) issues that might cause..?
