Hi,
I've obtained this pickup recently it's a neck one apparently from a stock Fender strat ('91-92) at 6.4k which is why I was told it must be a Texas Special ... but something about the story and year made me doubt. Perhaps someone here could help me narrow down the search and confirm if this is original Fender pickup and if any good. Here are couple of pictures I will try to add more soon. Thanks.

Hard to tell from pics. Are the pickup windings a kind of dark maroon then possibly tex special...
One strange thing is the stagger is for a lefty. :D

Oh well spotted I totally missed that ... I guess I should return it since I’m right handed ... but at the same time wondering does it really make huge impact as they are hard to come accross (Hendrix flipped his but not sure his were staggered).

You are right.

FilipFS, I will adjust pickup to screw down treble side and screw up bass side.

If you move pole pieces by force you can damage your pickup. Probably not a best thing to do. But you are right you can adjust the angle of the whole pickup.

I am thinking on a neck pickup usually highs are damped and lows are pronounced. With a lefty I might get more highs and less lows on a neck which could be interesting balance.
I assume I can mix lefty and standard pups as long as wires are soldered correctly. Anyone tried that?

I will post more info soon.

Sorry I know you didn't say that just thought it's worth mentioning.

Anyway so I installed this pickup or I tried at first and realized the wires were too short ... so this must be a middle pickup after all judging by the wire length and impedance which measures at 6.55K. Anyway I extended the wires and installed it, seems to work fine. Copper wires are sort of dark orange (not bright orange nor maroon) and I don't feel like it's hotter than my regular pickup but seems little cleaner and more defined in sustain.

It's lacking bass to my ears not sure if that's because it's actually middle pickup. It would be really helpful if someone could post wire lengths for Texas Special (or similar) pickups so that I can possibly confirm the original position of this pickup by comparing lengths. Thanks!
