Hi. Today I traded my 2015 59 reissue AMVI strat for a 1994 62 reissue AMVI one after adding some money from my side. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/352x6 ... I ordered some screws for the backplate pickguard online (btw are these the same? the pickguard and backplate screws) Anyway to fix the rust on this TOP NOTCH playing guitar? I swear I fell in love. Should I just live with it? also the pickups are rusty but they're gonna be replaced to SSL-1's. It's only the screws and are rusty or is the jacks that they screw into the body are rusty? or is it the pickguard rusty? Sorry for my bad english I am from Israel. Thanks ahead, Avihay.

Screws are the same if you order original Fender parts or good copy.

Crazy isn't it, the Custom Shop would have a nice upcharge on a guitar with those Relic'd details.

The problem is knowing whether it's a good copy. Most people don't have the ability to analyze the alloy, compare the exact tpi and thread depth, slot angles and depth, countersink angle... A not-so-good copy can easily rip out the screw hole in old wood or crack an old and brittle faceplate, even if it looks the same to the naked eye. Or worse still, break or corrode inside the hole.
With screws being as cheap as they are anyhow, you might as well go to the source and know you get something that is spec, not only looks spec.
A penny saved is ridiculous.

The spec is, a nickel-plated, ¼-inch, #4, oval head, phillips screw. The brand is unimportant -- only the size, configuration, and finish. There is an Ebay vendor called "Madison Guitars" that sells genuine Fender pickguard screws with various levels of relic finish. A set of twenty costs about $25.00 and you choose the degree of ageing at the time of purchase. The gentleman's name is Ben and he's very good at what he does.

Shalom.

Arjay

Any chance that's a Canetto Relic (Rxxxxx)? I know you said its a 1994; so I'm just assuming its a CNxxxxx but thought, its pretty beat up(rusty) even if it was a gigging guitar down south.

edit: Its late and I thought it was the CS thread, my bad.....good football game.
