I use GHS Nickel Rockers (slightly flattened nickel) for blues.
Ernie Ball slinkys are somewhat brighter and a very popular string set.

You can hear a difference between string types. And the gauge also affects the tone. 0.011s sound fuller than 0.009s etc.

GHS Boomers 10-46 Great sound. I change strings quite often so I can't say how long they would actually last.
