Thank's omar59

IMO ceramic cap is not worst ot better than polyester (orange drop) cap, it is just another material

I agree, I know some people say they can tell a difference, I can't. The ceramic cap was a "no name" or generic, I do think that parts with the manufactures name on it are better quality, if I am going to go the trouble of replacing something I'm going to use the best quality parts I can find.

+1

Cut-rate parts = cut-rate performance.

Nearly have 10mm between the strings and the pickup

Too low.
Start at 3mm top and bottom, and tweak to suit.
'Buckers get thin and bright sounding if they're too low.

He did not answer to my question august 18th ;
" 10mm with string fretted at the last fret ? ? "

You can read 10mm with no string fretted, but it is not the right way to do

OK I do know that 10mm is WAAAY too much. I know how to set up a guitar. Everyone was saying lower the pickup so I had taken it as far as it will go. Yes it sounds crap like that. Just like it sounds crap at 2mm and 3mm and 4mm etc. The pots and caps are all standard MIM strat as it left the factory. I'm not going to change the pot values for the humbucker and then end up with crap sounding single coils.

I'm either going to fit a Dimarzio PAF or a Tonerider Rocksong (both available with fender spacing) and then a coil tap. One of these will hopefully give me a smoother tone.
