Have you tried tweaking your amp's tone controls?

Hi Arjay,

I did try the amp and guitar knobs but something's still wrong.

Today, I used my eyes, ears and a Philips screwdriver, and, it worked!!!

Otherwise, I was going around in circles. I know we should use our own judgment to suit our taste. But, a baseline (or guide) helped a lot. I set my pickups lower to avoid string buzz and the other problems. The pickup heights are around the spec but not to the dot. Most importantly, I strum and play to equalise the loudness of each pickup. No sudden loudness or clang.

The guitar is now more playable. Thanks for your help!!

Glad to hear you've got a handle on the problem.

Just remember, set-up guides are merely that......guides.

String gauge and brand, ambient temperature and humidity, your picking and strumming style -- all play a role as well.

solid advice.. when I plug my strat, or tele, or les paul into my amp, I always have to adjust the tone controls. takes just a minute to come up with a sound I like.

just remember-your tone is your tone...we spend too much time trying to get the Clapton-beck-Gilmour sound, when in reality your playing determines more than you know.

how do you get to Carnegie hall? practice, practice, practice!
