I originally asked the question what are the Factory Installed Strings on this Guitar Model. I actually found, after much searching, the answer to my and others question on the Fender website. According to the "Specs" section of this Guitar Model, the Factory installs the Fender Dura-Tone 880L (.012-.052) string set.

According to a video I watched online (not Fender) about changing strings, the Presenter stated Guitar Makers install strings matched to the instrument which gives the best tone and performance. There you have it, the answer to our question - Dura-Tone 880L string set.

I just bought a brand new , Fender DG-60 this past Friday and it said on the label which was on the pickguard , that it was strung with the strings you've mentioned. Never the less , I took them off and replaced them with a new set of Elixirs. Major improvement IMO. You should try them .

I have not tried that brand, I have used Martins Medium weight. I am so surprised how much diffrent strings make in the sound quality. Did you use light or another weight?

I use 11's. Elixirs are a bit pricey but, one set will last you several months which when you think about, will save you a tone of money in the long run considering how often most musicians change their strings. 2 sets will probably last you a entire year . The Acoustic ones cost a bit more, around the $13.00 range but they're definitely worth it. Trust me on this one. I'm 55 and have been playing for 43 years and have used just about every brand out there.

Thanks for the info. I am 59 and am taking up the guitar. I had some lessons when I was young but lost interest when the instructor began pushing my parents to buy equipment. I have been trying to learn on my own for a couple of years now and enjoy Hymns, Gospel and Contemporary Worship music. My FA-100 is not of great quality but has served its purpose. I am now looking at a better quality instrument, maybe acoustic electric.

I'm 55 and after playing electric since 1972 , I made the decision last week to just play acoustic. I still have my electric gear but I'm unsure if I'm going to sell it or not. I have 2 Acoustics , one is a 2014 Fender CD60CE in Mahogany and the other is my new , Fender DG 60 which I just bought last Friday. If I do sell my electric gear , I'm probably going to get myself a Fender Kingman. If you are looking upgrade from the FA-100 and want to get a Acoustic / Electric , get the Fender CD60CE . They're only $300.00 and come with a Hardshell case which is a great deal. Trust me on this one.

Any online music dealer but, I would go to www.sweetwater.com That is where I got my CD60CE in Mahogany from. Any guitar over $200.00 , they give it a 10 point inspection before they send it out to you. You won't see Guitar Center doing that. They have the best customer service around.

No. That particular model just happens to come with the case. I think it's the only model acoustic from Fender in that price range that comes with a hardshell case. That's a heck of a deal IMO.
