Before I pull the trigger on this purchase are there any issues I need to consider. Always wanted a 12 string, but never got around to buying one.

If you can, try it before you buy it. Twelve string guitars can be horrible if they cant't stay in tune. The neck is seriously important and must be comfortable also the build quality and hardware are seriously important. The Villager I tried had a hard time staying in tune, the neck wasn't good for me, but that's a personal thing and the intonation was off. The cutaway was a nice feature though. In that price range, Martin has an X Series 12 string and Taylor has the 150e that is a couple hundred bucks more, but plays like a dream and sounds beautiful. It also has a great sounding pickup system called the Expression System which is used on their higher end models. I've been looking at a twelve string to replace my old Yamaha twelve. I'm seriously considering either the Taylor or a Martin Performing Artist twelve string, but the Martin is further up the food chain. Good luck and if you can, try out as many as you can.

Thanks 63Supro. I tried as many brands of 12 strings that I could find locally, including the Martin and Taylor lower end offerings. They sounded great but unfortunately all were wider than I find comfortable with my smaller hands. I took the chance on the Villager, and I got lucky on this one. It has the smaller neck that I like and it has stayed in tune. I will say mine did not like standard tuning, sounded a bit shrill to say the least. I tuned a half step down and it sounds good.

Equus, Glad it worked out for you congrats! A lot of people tune a twelve string a down half step. It also helps keep the octave G string from breaking. The most important thing is that it works for you and is comfortable. Good luck with it.
