Hey,

I got my hands on the Tim Armstrong Hellcat at my local shop and fell in love with it. Great sound, like the size of the body and it plays well.

However I don't like the hellcat inlays on the neck. What guitars are similar to it (size, sound, etc.) without having the silly designs?

Thanks

There is a "Deluxe" version of the Hellcat which has more traditional circle inlays. Never played one but I'd imagine it would be very similar in sound and feel to the regular one.

I own the "non-deluxe" Hellcat and I agree it could do without the skulls and fraidy-cats on the fingerboard. But otherwise its a nice guitar for the price. I really like the concert-sized body, and it sounds particularly good through when plugged into an amp.

Guys, its called the Hellcat!!! Of course its got cat inlays, that's its thing. I love mine, a great guitar. The deluxe version costs around £250 more in the UK, and looks dull by comparison. Hellcats rule!

Sure this thread is a little old...but still may be helpful to others now or in the future.

Researching four different sites (Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, American Musical Supply, and Sweetwater), the only one to offer a full body guitar (other than the Hellcat) is Guitar Center with an Alkaline Trio Malibu, and you'd have to put up with a Heart shaped sound hole and Stratocaster head stock.
Otherwise, everything else appears to have "cut-away" body styles.

What about getting the FA-125S from the starter pack? All mahogany, solid top, concert size, no cutaway. Then just put a fishman infinity in it? Honestly, I can't believe that guitar is so affordable. The CD140S is a great all mahogany dread for the price, but it's a dread and likely larger than you're looking to go. I was planning on tracking down a new Guild all solid mahogany dread this holiday season, but after playing the solid top Fender offering I'd have a hard time convincing myself to spend twice as much on a guitar.
