Like I've posted before, I really wanna adjust my CD-60, because after the 6-7th fret, the strings are high from the fretboard and it makes it difficult to play.

I was wondering if I change the bridge, and put a lower one, would that make it better?

I'm also planning to go to the local store and ask them about it, but I want to know your opinions too!

thanks in advance!

Yes, a shorter saddle will lower the action. I lowered the saddle on my acoustic, it now has the action as low as my electrics.

thanks, I'll go to the store where I bought the guitar, because I happen to pass by the Music Service store the other day (without my guitar), and the guy who was there kept telling me that the guitar has bent

YOu may need to adjust the truss rod in the neck to straighten it out. If you look down the neck from the headstock to the body, you should be able to see fairly well how much of a curve there is. It is common for a neck to have a slight curve, but if it is affecting your playing then you will have to adjust it. You will want to make sure the neck is straight before you file down the bridge saddle, so try this first. If you decide to adjust the neck yourself, be patient with it. A 1/4 turn clockwise to start. Then, after allowing a minute or two for the neck to settle, check it again and, if needed, make further adjustments. Be sure to use the correct size allen wrench and don't over tighten as this may lead to more serious problems. If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, it will be worth taking it to your local technician to have them adjust it for you. Then, if the action is still too high, you can lower the bridge saddle. To do this, you will want to loosen the strings and remove the saddle from the guitar. A simple sanding block on the underside of the saddle will gradually lower the action. Once again, be patient, you can always take off a little more of the saddle, but you can't put it back on once you sand it off. Most of all, have fun with it. Good luck

thanks so much! and guess what! I took my guitar to the store I bought it, and the we discussed it with the guy who was there, and he told me that it's better to adjust the truss rod than putting a different saddle/bridge!

So the action on the 12th fret was about 5mm, and now it's 4mm. He told me that he could go a little more closer on it, but I tried it and it was good! Plus I put some new strings (GHS .10) which makes it even easier to play! I'm very satisfied with the work, although the next time I'm gonna change strings, I'll get .11s!

thanks again everyone for your replies!

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I have a DG22S which is a Standard Dreadnaught size Fender Acoustic with a Flamed Maple body and a Solid spruce top. I bought mine back in 1999 and last year decided to upgrade to something better. I hit all the local shops and even had a chance to look while I was on tour, covering basically the entire Continental US. I was prepared to spend about $2500, assuming that once I started looking I would find my dream guitar. Long story short... I'm still playing my Fender. I've put it up against Taylors, Martins, Ovations, Yairis, you name it... The only guitar I found that sounded better was a $4500 Martin, that was only so cheap because the entire soundboard was split. (Not just separated at the seam, it looked like someone stepped on it!) Treat your Fender right and it will do the same in kind.

yes, Fender may not have the most popular acoustic guitars, but for sure they are very reliable!
