Thanks for your reply. I looked at the wrong dating system to get that date. Once I got to the proper part of the site, it appears that the Kingman Acoustic that I have is dated between1965-1971. It does have the spruce face with rosewood back and sides. Original MSRP was $280-394.

That's the years that the internal torsion rod was in the body. (required because of the removable neck.) The only thing that was good for was clamping a pickup on it. But those were really quiet for dreadnoughts. Awesome adjustibility on the action though. If they put that bridge on the current Kingman, I would go for one.

The King is a nice guitar. Plays well and sounds good. Yours dates to 64-65. In 66 the name was changed to the Kingman. Values range around the $1000 +/- $400. Any of the Kings that are Indian wood, wildwood, sunburst finish, zebrawood, etc. add about 25% to 40%.

The "tone bar" is more for stability than sound. Estimates are that the first 200 to 400 Fender acoustics were produced without the tone bar. I'm suspicious of this figure as I see them on eBay frequently and I have four 60s Fenders without a tone bar myself.

Hard to tell. CBS was in charge back then and their record keeping was a little suspect. There's a 65 or 66 on the bay now.
