hi everyone!

I've been playing bass for a couple of months now. I love my bass but i also wanna start playing some guitar. I like the idea of having a fender headstock on an acoustic guitar, because it will be easy to change and tune strings. I was wondering how is the California acoustic guitar like? To me it seems like a high quality guitarI read some positive reviews on it and just wondering who tried it. I like all the colours, but my favourite would have to be the blue. The price seems really good for a Fender. Any help would be appriciated!

I have never tried one. Personally I don't care for that headstock on an acoustic.

oh. to me it looks cool, but also regular guitar headstocks confuse me. i like the fender headstock, way easier to tune or change strings and all.

explains your user name :) I just relized that there are multiple versions of the California series guitars. what i meant was the Sonoran SCE Custom. I think that's the only one that actually comes in diferent colours

I really do like the kingman, its a sort of natural, yet modern, cause of the head, guitar. I especailly like the inlays.

Hmm... not sure if it's an appropriate place to ask, but in respect to the Sonoran SCE California Custom, I was playing one at a guitar store earlier in the week as I was looking for a new acoustic, and really liked it. The tones were really nice and the playability was good. Only downside is that I'm a lefty player, so the only Sonoran model I can get is the regular one in a natural finish. After asking the dealer, he said there's no way he can order the Custom (with a color finish) as a left handed model. Not sure if it really wasn't possible, or if he just couldn't do it. So, does anyone know if it's possible to get one left handed?

I am originally from california and if you go to beaches there like huntington people actually play them at the beach, i swear. But the tone is great in the electronics are awesome. I personally would buy the fender malibu model in sunburst. It is 70 bucks more. Better pickup pearl inlay and the same vintage look and feel. But thats just my opinion.

I was wondering if anyone knows anythng about the California Sonoran 2007/2008 prototypes? I have a one of a kind prototype of the ca-Sonoran in Sherwood Green Metallic with pearl side binding and according to the email that I recieved from Fender, that its the only one, and that they do not even offer this color on any of the guitars they make. It was displayed at the 2008 Namm show and it quite beautiful. The pearl side binding just puts it over the top. Unfortunately, all that I know about this guitar is that it was donated by someone at the Fender Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ for the charity auction that I won. The serial number and model number is blank on the Fender label. Any info on this would be great.
Thanks in advance....

I have a Kingman SCE in sunburst and I really love it, although I'm sure it needs an adjustment.

I'm having a hard time playing bar chords on it and the strings above the high frets could be used to dice and chop.

Other than that, it's great; open chords, solos, tone, finish, etc

Any advice on the best way to lower the action?

Hey Shade, I've been playing bass for a while now and I was thinking of selling my Jag Bass to buy a Fender Kingman so I could build up a guitar playing background to enhance my bass playing. I had to make sure it was a decent guitar, turns out it is BUT, I hear the action is super high. Being a blues player myself, I prefer a lower action. For both you and I, the simplest way to lower the action is to get the bottom of the saddle sanded down. DO NOT attempt this yourself. You might make it harder to play. Take it to a professional or someone who knows their stuff.

How does it play? Do you think it's fair for blues as far as sound? Should I go through and buy this guitar? Thanks and Keep playing
