What would you recommend for a Fender Acoustic 6 string guitar? I'm not really sure what Fender offers in an acoustic, I was just curious what you all thought about them. Thanks!!

I think Fenders are very good beginner/budget/backup/kick around guitars. I've got a Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic that I like quite a bit. It looks cool and is very comfortable to play (at least it has been since I got it set up properly). It's not the greatest sounding guitar I've ever heard, but I think it's pretty nice for what it is. If your budget is under, say $400, I think Fenders are a good choice.

ok thats cool! I have never really had any high end acoustics, 1 Ibanez & 2 Alvarez' which were fine for what i would use them for. I sold them to help pay for the Strat. I may never go back to acoustic but if I did I would want to try out a Fender.

I got mine used for about $250 on eBay, and I feel like I got a pretty good guitar for the price. Try a couple out at a store if you can, and see what you think -- good luck in your search!

I have recently purchased a sonoran sce thinline. i was wary to, because i have never had any good luck with a fender acoustic... this guitar may have changed my mind a little... but, keep in mind, this guitar is built, seemingly with the electric player in mind. 3" thick body, and a bolt on strat neck... its a very playable guitar. decently rich tone too... all in all, fenders make a great knock around acoustic, but if you are a serious acoustic player, and not a brand fan boy, go with a higher end gibson, taylor, or martin... taylor and martin only do acoustics. remember... fender is famous for electrics...

I like the regular Sonoran and the Kingman Elvis Clambake versions. The necks seem to replicate a Stratocaster neck which I like very much. My next guitar purchase will be one or the other for sure. Just got to save up my clams!

Fender acoustic?

I'd go with a Guild...

Go w/ a Guild? Sure... If you've got $4000 to blow... Guild's cheapest acoustic runs $700 or so... if ur gonna spend that, just go w/ a Martin. If you are looking for a knockaround acoustic... Get a sonoran or something like it... pretty much can't beat it for $350...

I was sticking with Fender brands.

But if it's too much--get a used one--as for other brands--the Godin acoustic brands--Simon & Patrick, Seagull, and Art & Lutherie all make great bang for the buck acoustics, and some high end ones as well.

I love my S&P 12 string--great price, great sound, plays great.

Most Fender acoustics feel cheap to me.
But seeing as this is a Fender forum, I thought I'd stick with a Fender owned brand and mention Guild--I like Guilds--even the cheaper ones.

If you replace the strings on a Sonoran with Elixir strings it feels pretty darn good at that point!

I completely agree! I've never been a fan of Fender acoustics until I picked up my Sonoran Thinline... but its a whole different breed of Acoustic... threw some Elixir 11's on her today... She's like a whole different animal!!! LOVE IT!!! :D

I threw those same strings on a cheap Mitchell MD100 and it transformed it into a very nice guitar. Plus they last forever, worth every penny!

What if you don't like the way Elixirs feel on your fingers?

Then that won't work.

Played a Sonoran in my local music shop and had to get it, I love this guitar. I have played all sorts of gutars in all sorts of styles, flatpicking and fingerpicking, lead rhythm, electric and acoustic, clean and dirty, flat top, arch top, baritone, bass. This is the one I would keep if I had to get rid of everthing else. Perfect combination of acoustic/ electric feel and sound. It is not one of those highly responsive acoustic guitars that sings when you touch it, you have to put a bit of work in to get a response from it, but it really rewards the effort. The bolt on strat neck makes the intonation and tone balanced and even all the way to the top of the neck, the thin body means it doesn't boom when you plug it in, it looks so cool as well, this is the guitar I've been looking for for many years.
