I just bought my second Ensenada Series guitar. I must say these guitars are exceptional! The materials and build quality, not to mention the incredible tone and playability, are right up there, if not surpassing the big, popular, and yes, expensive USA made guitars from Taylor and Martin (as much as I hate to see these comparisons made all of the time). I mean I really love this guitar. But if it is brought up on a forum other than the Fender forum it gets no love. People will go on and on about Blueridge, Epiphone Masterbilts, and other Chinese guitars and praise them as great guitars. But the Ensenada Series gets no response. I know most Fender dealers (GC on down) never really carried the Ensenada series, so most people have never played them and assume they are just another overly glossy, blinged out, not so good sounding run of the mill guitar from the megalo guitar company Fender, but these things really are a diamond in the rough. I found mine (ESA10CE) at Sam Ash reduced to $599. It had sat there for at least 2 months.
Let me get to my original point. Why has Fender abandoned the Ensenada Series? Was it always going to be a limited production run of just the Palo Escrito, or was a business decision made to go another direction from making high quality acoustics at the Ensenada plant?

Not sure. I remember reading about that series, and thinking that it "sounded" like it should be a decent line of guitars. I love Fender electrics (more than any other brand) and like some of their amps as well. I've never been a fan of their electrics though, pretty much cheap junk from all my experience (and that of many others I know). I was looking forward to a new line, but this did seem to drop off the map.

I'm only hoping Fender's wretched history with acoustic doesn't defile the good guitar of the Guild and Tacoma lines over time though.
