Fender had in the '06 catalogue a flat-top / flat back (laminated wood octave mandolin and bouzouki. Both had a passive single coil pickup and different length necks. Made in China.

'Saw one at a Sam Ash in metro Chicago last summer and had only minutes to look at it; it was a special order and on its way out the door. Setup was terrible.

It appears to be out of the current Fender product lineup.

What should an entry-level bouzouki cost? Thank you!

And from metro Chicago, "Hey, how ya doing!"

My other half has the Octave Mandolin - FM066. It's solid wood spruce top, and solid maple back and sides though so might be different to the Bouzouki you saw that was laminate back and sides.

It's a beautiful instrument, sounds fantastic and the setup was pretty much perfect out of the box.

Fender made the same body with two different necks under two part numbers. Octave mandolin and bouzouki.
