I was changing the bridge saddle and
I've found small piece of wood under the pickup, and plastic shim above the pickup,

is that normal, shouldn't be piezo pickup sit directly into the saddle channel

fender jg26s acoustic guitar

thank you

The piece of wood sounds weird; can you describe it. As for the shim; it should be placed under the pickup and not between the pickup and saddle. Since you're replacing the Saddle you can size it, so you won't need the shim, but you'll have to work carefully not to remove too much material. Hope that helps.

that piece of wood is probably the same material as bridge, it's shorter that the piezo and it's placed in the middle of saddle channel and it's removable.
it looks like a wood shim
my guitar is solid mahogany body, solid cedar top

I've red somewhere that some guitar can benefit from lifting the saddle by wood shim

it affect the sound, should be more bright

jg26s has very good sound, 12 years old guitar

I'm not sure what to do to remove that piece wood shim or leave it and shave the saddle

may be is that wood shim a factory standard, i wonder if all fender acoustic guitar have that wood shim under pickup

I have seen that once, but I've never come across it in any of the books about setting up guitars that I've read. You shouldn't need it if the Saddle is shaped to the correct height for the string action. The more direct contact your strings have with the saddle to bridge the better the sound. I would give it a try without the piece of wood and shim, cause you can always remove a little more material from the saddle if you think it's better with the wood shim.
