What type of music do you want to play might influence the type of guitar you get. If your looking for a no nonsense guitar the FA125S player pack is a nice solid top guitar; also if you have a chance try out a Mitchell guitar usually sold at GC. If you think at some point of actually performing you might consider an acoustic electric guitar. Then you should look at Mitchell MD100SCE, Ibanez AEG10 or AEF models, or an Epiphone AJ220S. The advantage of the Ibanez AEG10 models is that they are smaller body acoustic electric guitars, which make it a bit more comfortable to play for some people. The AEF models are just a slightly bigger vision of the AEG models; both Ibanez models sound great. The nice things about the Mitchell and the Epiphone is that they both offer solid tops and bigger sound due to the size of the guitars and the solid tops. If your interested in a nylon string guitar I would go with an Ibanez AEG10NTGN. the neck is narrower than standard classical guitars and is very comfortable to play. I believe all these models are within your budget. Hope that helps.

Awesome, Thanks i'll check those out! I like folk rock, pop (think Good Old War, Johnny Flynn, Cast Spells). A smaller model would probably be more comfortable for me. What is the difference with the nylon strings?

Some people prefer the nylon, because the nylon strings are a bit easier on the figure tips. The problem is that with gain there is some lost; the nylon string don't sound as bright as steel strings. I like the Ibanez model because of the narrower fretboard, which makes more comfortable to play.

I thought of another guitar you should consider; a Mitchell MO100s. It also comes as a player pack, which means it includes some accessories. I own one and find that it is a very nice sounding guitar; it's a smaller body. the nice thing about the Mitchell guitar is that they are usually setup with low action, which makes it easier to play. So if you go with another make I would recommend having the guitar setup, because even the more expensive guitars aren't setup prior to customers getting them and a setup really makes a difference.

Well hope that helps.

My first guitar was a Talman-Ibanez Inner City,
Image
here's a picture of the body,
I got this guitar when I was 7 I'm 14 now, it's lasted a long time, and I taught myself to play in this baby,
I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn,
I saw one yesterday at GC for about $250 I think,
Another guitar I recommend is a Seagull, they're made in Canada, and they're 'bout $400, but they're amazing,
Yesterday while at GC, I was messing around on a Taylor when my dad handed me the Seagull, I was immensely impressed with the Seagull, I don't remember what model it was, sadly, but I'm looking to upgrade to a full sized acoustic, as mine's pretty smallish, (neck is the same, it's got a thinner body,) I would definitely go with the Seagull.

Best Of Luck!
Tessa♥
