I just put the Red Brand Copper Bronze strings on my Kingman 10 tonight. Wow, they are awesome! The sound is loud and warm. Wondering if anyone else has tried them? Let me know as I have read mixed reviews online.

I have not tried those. I have used Elixirs forever on my acoustics and always afraid to try something new.

Cool!
I like them more each time I play. I think I'm sold on them now. I wonder if other brands will start making them--hope so.

Since I've always had Elixirs on, can I ask if any of you have used them in the past so you could give a valid comparison?

I too have alway had Elixirs... I still like 'em. The Reds just seem to warm the tone up for me. I have Takamines, a 2 6 stingers and 12... Its just a bit warmer on the 6, but on my 12... man! I won't go back.

Thanx for the info. I'm thinking it's time for new strings on my acoustic and will keep this in mind!

I tried Red brand 12's on my Dean Jumbo acoustic last year. I really enjoyed the warm tone that they produced. However, longevity wasn't all that good, they seemed dull after a few weeks ( I play about 1/2 to 1 hour each day). One thing that was noticeable was the fret wear into the bottom of the strings; the frets wore relatively deep groves at the most frequently used fret locations. I suppose it's better to sacrifice the strings so that the frets don't wear. Because of the short life, I probably won't be using them again.

That's the biggest issue for me. I've tried every kind of string out there, including many of the coated varieties. I always end up coming back to Elixirs. They have great tone (especially the Phos. Bronze models), and they last SO much longer than standard strings. I've used sets for several months before. And that is with regular play.

I've been auditioning strings and currently have Elixer PB's on my guitar. These strings sounded good right out of the box and finger squeak is minimal during slides. I might try some of the high priced strings in the future, i.e. Thomastic-Infeld, but for now these Elixers may have me convinced to stay with them.
