I don't own a JG26 SCE, but from looking at the other acoustic guitars on the Fender site they all look to use light (.012-.052 Gauge) string. If your looking to use a heavier gauge string you might need to consult a guitar tech.

anyone tried D'addario JE17 13-56 strings phosphor bronze on fender jg26s

I like medium strings but I'm not sure if this guitar can handle it

Hey Max7,
Like RIX11 says, I'd consult a good guitar tech or guitar repair person before switching to medium gauge strings. In addition to the structural stress that the added string tension could induce, you may encounter intonation and playability issues like higher action if the neck bows forward. All totally correctable but unless you know what you're doing best to let a good tech or repair person do it.

Good luck!

I bought mine JG26SCE 2001. I have played for 40 years. Through the years I have played quality Levin, Hagstrom, Bjarton, Landola and Gibson steelstring acoustics. Since 1990 I had none and was seeking all around after good one. The guitars I found was way over my budget. I search for ten years, and one day I walked into my hometown musicstore, and there it was!

I felt in love immediately. And bought it with a nice etui for 4000 swedish crowns (approx: 570 US$). Not cheap for a koreanbuilt guitar. But now after ten years it was well spent money!

Reading some reviews, I realize that many complain on this model. Maybe I was lucky to find a really good example.

Anyway: during the years I have tried different strings, but always went back to the same.
Thomastik Plectrum AC110. Strong resonance and very warm but articulated tone. But the main reason is that this strings are in tune across the hole neck!
AC110 is very good for fingerpicking and blues- & jazz-plectrumplaying. Even through my Fender Bassman and Bogner Alchemist, it sounds heaven (an electrified variant of Django Rheinhart). Maybe not so good for a singer who wants subdued mids and strong bass/treble when strumming.

Happy playing
