I have a Fender CD-60, and I'm using a similar set of D'Addario 12-53 gauge strings on it. I'm wondering if using 13-56 would be harmless to the guitar? I'd like the fuller tone of medium strings, but I'm wary of damaging the neck or truss rods from prolonged tension at a greater poundage than the regular light strings.

Thank you very much for any advice!

You might consider replacing the saddle, bridge pins, and nut with Bone. It is surprising what a difference it will make, but if your still wanting to change to a heavier gauge strings, then have it done buy a guitar tech who can also do the set up for the heavier strings. The truss rod at the least will need to be adjusted and maybe action. Good luck, hope that helps you.
