I'd be glad to go on about it agian.

Playability is almost like an electric. The Electronics are really Acoustic sounding, and the built in tuner is just too cool 8) . However this guitar shines when played unplugged. The bass response is fantastic, the Mid and High Tones are as Loud and Full (and I do Mean Full) as Bass Tones. Fretted Note sound as loud and clear as open strings (plays the Rain Song like a dream).

The three color sunburst is nicely applied and the Shiny finish is eveny applied. Just a beautful guitar.

I'd been shopping for an All-Solid acoustic for under $700 for about a year. I'd tried Epihone Masterbilt (thin sounding), Low priced Martins (Jasmines sound better), Breedlove (close, but no bass response), Taylor (see Martin), Alvarez (nice, but they have a short life excpectancy), and
Guild (Best until the GDS 500 went on sale for $399)

It's such a good Dreadnaught for the price, I suspect I may have gotten a Peach (one that come of the assembly line a little better than the rest), but if were only halph as nice I'd be h=just as happy.

Followup on the GDO-500SE:

This went back to MF last Friday morning.

Upon re-opening the box to insert a duplicate UPS label prior to shipment, I decided to do a closer examination of this defective piece in better lighting and with some magnification.

Much of the problems with the case and guitar were due to it having been stored in wet conditions. The mysterious "burned-looking" spots were actually mildew in the grain of the wood, under the finish.

The delamination and warping of the case bottom and lifting of the vinyl and inner lining were also probably due to old moisture damage. Under the later tape, the inner flaps of the bottom of the shipping box showed that they had at some time been sitting in water prior to the first shipment and wicking it up.

The "dust" I noticed all over the guitar was probably mold.

Why MF never caught this and reshipped the piece twice is a question for their returns crew.

If anyone has doubts about mildew penetrating the wood in this fashion, check the Schecter on guitar photojournalist Mark Wong's photoweborama.com site for an excellent example. It was stored in a wet garage.

Mark is a close friend and has numerous beautiful layouts of a few of my personal instruments. Mark has about as tight a relationship with FMIC as one can without being on their payroll, and can certainly dispel the idiotic and libelous assertion [vide supra] that I'm anyone's "hatchet man."
