Yeah, and I really like it. I'll post a couple pictures in the thread Wild Rose started, as well.

I'd be glad to go on about it agian.

Playability is almost like an electric. The Electronics are really Acoustic sounding, and the built in tuner is just too cool 8) . However this guitar shines when played unplugged. The bass response is fantastic, the Mid and High Tones are as Loud and Full (and I do Mean Full) as Bass Tones. Fretted Note sound as loud and clear as open strings (plays the Rain Song like a dream).

The three color sunburst is nicely applied and the Shiny finish is eveny applied. Just a beautful guitar.

I'd been shopping for an All-Solid acoustic for under $700 for about a year. I'd tried Epihone Masterbilt (thin sounding), Low priced Martins (Jasmines sound better), Breedlove (close, but no bass response), Taylor (see Martin), Alvarez (nice, but they have a short life excpectancy), and
Guild (Best until the GDS 500 went on sale for $399)

It's such a good Dreadnaught for the price, I suspect I may have gotten a Peach (one that come of the assembly line a little better than the rest), but if were only halph as nice I'd be h=just as happy.

What a nice guitar! Every thing that FirstMeasure says is true. I bought this guitar from MusiciansFriend for $399.99 while everybody else has them for $649.99 or higher. The MSRP is $928.00. It is a well built guitar and sounds just great. The gold Grover tuners keep it in tune and i really love the pearl like Fender on the headstock, and the F on the 12th fret and on the bridge pins, they glimmer an array of colors. This is my second Fender and they have always arrived set-up with low action, all you need to do is tune it and go. Kudos to Fender for this! I could ramble on more but i got to go play my guitar! If any one is thinking of buying this guitar, stop thinking and do it before the sale ends!

I'm probably going to order the Orchestra version of this (GDO-500SE) today, as I have a MF discount that expires 29 February -- so I hope I can get some information here first:

I'm not familiar with the country-of-origin prefixes for Fender acoustics; Is this a Korean built instrument?

How is the case? Is it more or less the same type and quality as the molded US cases?

Thanks for any data!

mine says made in china....the case is pretty nice, molded just for this guitar, mine is brown with gold latches, the inside is a nice plush brown. I have been playing mine non-stop, just sounds that good to me!

$928.56 is an incredibly high MSRP for a Chinese axe.

I assumed that this had to be a Korean Cor-Tek at that price.

Is it on par with the US Fender/SKBs do you think?

This being a Chinese build sort of sets me back. I've seen some nice Chinese acoustics, but they've tended to be hit-or-miss...but so are most acoustics at any price point. I dunno. I'm undecided now... :?

it seems to be a well made guitar, spruce top, mohogany back sides and neck, super low action with no buzz or rattle, grover tuners, it plays like a dream. i have had axes made here that werent this good sounding.

The case is "on par" with TKL cases. Not a flight case, but a well built hard case. Nicer than your average TKL however, with it's padded handle.

Tell ya what, I'll take a picture of it.

As far as hit and miss, it's 2 for 2 in this thread, assuming the GDO is as well built. If it is from China, the Chinese working it that factory are doing a better job than the Americans working in the gibson Factory.

Is the neck scarf-jointed? Just curious. I have nothing against scarf-jointing, though it's less common on more expensive instruments.

The Orchestra is solid cedar and solid ovangkol. Cedar top's consistent with the smaller body configuration (it's fairly typical for classicals, for example). It also apparently has chrome hardware, which I prefer for longevity over goldtone finish, though MF's description of the dreadnought version also says chrome hardware. I saw a description of the Orchestra that said it had smoked chrome hardware, so apparently there were numerous changes during the production run. Or something. Maybe someone just makes all this up as they go along. [shrug] Fender published specs are often inaccurate and rarely corrected, in my experience.

I wanted this as a recording instrument, Orchestra bodies usually having a more even and focused range compared to the more booming low/mid-low emphasis of a dreadnought's big voice.

Well, sure. I've seen some truly dreadful $3500 acoustic axes lately from the [cough!] other big American guitar maker.

You can never tell which axe is going to have glaring dead ranges, I suppose.

I'll probably get this thing and I'll probably be reasonably happy with it. The published pictures show extremely fine-grained, top-quality wood, which is encouraging, if representative. I'm just uneasy about the Chinese build as I read elsewhere that there were some other Fender acoustic models that went from Korean to Chinese production without notice during their runs and users regarded it as a downgrade.

Wow! Pretty decent!

Is that really a molded case?
