I'm a new player (learner) and I just received my Fender Malibu SCE in sunburst which I ordered through Sam Ash. After a delay in receiving my order in which I was told alternately by salesmen that there may be an inventory problem due to the time of year (I was present when the order was placed to Fender- many in stock!), or that the store wasn't accepting deliveries due to inventory (?????), or the purchasing dept never received the faxed order. I persisted in getting my unit which I ordered on Jan 18th, on Feb. 14th. The guitar has a real nice sound and is sharp looking with the Strat headstock. The salesman commented that it had real good sustain despite the small size and the cutaway.
I brought it to another, smaller guitar store to pick up some accessories and the Tech who checked it out said that it was set up pretty well. In all, I'm very satisfied. It looks and sounds great.

You have got to be kidding me. I ordered a Sonoran SCE (same series as the malibu) from a dealer and same situation happened to me. It took about 8 months to get it which was ridiculous at the time. I bought it the year before they changed them surf, mohagany neck/body, rosewood fret board, and spruce top .Although it was a long wait I am very pleased with the guitar have recieved alot of compliments and quite frankly it is the best feeling acoustic I have plaid so far.

Now is this the guitar that has the body of an acoustic but a neck of a stratocaster? It also has the block inlays and cost around 400?

I guess I was lucky, my Malibu came in from Guitar Center online in 4 days! YES 4 DAYS
The neck had to be adjusted to get the strings to a playable height, other than that, i'm really happy with it.
The slightly flat tone,(thinline) is PERFECT for the Blues.
I'd highly reccomend this guitar.

yes I think that's the one!

btw, why don't you go to some local store and see these beauties by yourself instead of buying them online and wait all this time to get them?

Where can I order one? thats $40 off retail.
Also, is it a good, tight fit, and what brand is the case?
Thanks for any info you can give.

Hello: The case is made by Fender - brand new - has the Fender logo on the front - brown in color - with keys - never been used - I bought this case because the dealer here said it would fit my Malibu Sonoran, which of course it dosent - they are incredibly hard to get from fender, I ordered a case for my acoustic bass five months ago and still dont have it - again $100 dollars + shipping
