Hello,

I have recently acquired a black Fender Standard Telecoustic guitar (electric-acoustic) and am missing a manual for it. I tried to find it online but could'nt see it in the list, unless I'm overlooking something. I'm just starting to learn how to play the guitar.

EDIT: Actually, allow me to add that I was'nt given a manual for this particular guitar at the store but managed to find one online from Fender's website called "Fender Guitars and Basses (2003)". I'm not sure if this is the correct one, though.

But I do need to figure out FISHMAN Fender tuner that is built-in and that I use a Grado SR-60 headphone which I would love to use for this guitar for private use in my apartment. The problem is I heard that this requires an amp device to pull this off. I see that a headphone can't be plugged into the guitar directly, though. Despite all this, I do have the Fender AmpliTube app on my iPad downloaded for free and will have to order the special cable to attach it from my guitar and to the headphones or other external device such as GarageBand on the iMac. The headphone would be very helpful because I'm quite hard of hearing and ampflifying the sound would be so awesome.

I do have a PROformance Instrument Cable and a Hosa Technology 1/4 in TRS ro 3.5 mm TRS Adapter.

Any help or clarification on this would be wonderful.

Thanks!

-A

Here's the actual guitar I have:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0967310006

Will a Marshall MG10 Guitar Combo Amplifier - 6.5 Inch, 10 Watts, 2 Channels like this one work for this guitar?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002PM ... d_i=507846

I'm just wondering. I'm new to this and am just learning new products and options. The FISHMAN built-in tuner works fine and have no problems with it since I already figured out how to work it.

Thanks.

Glad you got it all figured out.
I was going to suggest getting a Fender Mini Twin amp to plug your headphones into.
http://backstage.musiciansfriend.com/productDetail/productDetail.jsp?entProductId=481134

It's got a wooden cabinet and 1 watt of power. It really works well for travelling (which I do a lot), and is pretty versatile for such a small device.

That's a great looking guitar. Right now my Strat is all in pieces while I wait for the mailman to deliver some needed part. Which has gotten me to thinking I might like an inexpensive acoustic backup guitar. I really like the feel of my guitar's neck and the headstock, so the Telecoustic looks like a natural choice.
How are you liking it? What are it's weaknesses?
Do they all come with an on board tuner? What do the electronics do, and are they really effective? How does it sound as a straight acoustic?
Thanks for any information you can share.

Wrvond,

Thanks for the suggestion on the amp. I actually got the Fender Starcaster 15G am on Amazon which retailed for about $112 but was almost half the price of it. A steal! It's the perfect amp where I can strut the guitar without the headphones, if the neighbors are out of the apartment complex or use the 'phones at night. Not too loud, not too tinny. I came close to getting the Marshall Amp which had 10 watts for $99, however this one I got does the job very well.

I like the telecoustic guitar a lot which allows me to play it with or without the amp. The weight is not so heavy and is manageable to hold it when strapped. The auto-tuner is built-in on top of the guitar which is a FISHMAN model. It has a power button, 4 dials : volume, bass, trebble, and middle. And lastly it has a digital readout that shows each string played with red or green lights to determine the direction to tune it).

I'm hard of hearing and am just starting to learn how to play the guitar. I was going to use GarageBand to watch video tutorials with sub-titled captions to follow along. It's one reason why I use the headphones to hear the tones better, but with my hearing aid, I can pick it up just fine without the 'cans'. I'm still trying to figure out which book to go for to learn it as I'm unsure of the weaknesses the telecoustic may have. The only thing I can think of is that it plays with less bass acoustically compared to the actual steel stringed guitars. I would know because my older sister played acoustics with a group of friends during the 70s at my childhood home (those hippie days, mind you, with folk music and all that) while my brother listened to mostly heavy rock and metal in that era as well.

Anyway, you can play the guitar acoustically without an amp, though if needed. It's a nice guitar for a great price. In fact, it was about $300 some dollars originally and the store Daddy's Junky Music sold it for about $229. Not bad of a deal!

Maybe next time, I'll get a strat to add to my collection :D. The last three years, I've been collecting and maintaining my fencing weapons and now it's guitars. I must be crazy.
