Can anyone tell me anything about my GC-42SCE? The ONLY information I have been able to find on-line was an article from Fender (supposedly...) back around 2001, I believe. That article said there were only 120 of them made. I have subsequently searched and searched to find out more about my guitar, but I have found NOTHING! Initially, I was just looking for a Fender case for it, but now I also want to learn more about it. I know it was made in Korea, and it's a beautiful see-through blue with abalone sound-hole rosette, fret markers and headstock inlay. The body and neck are fully bound, and the binding is 6-ply, with the outer layer being "tortoise shell." The tuners are Grover, and the electronics are by Fishman - the Fender Classic 4 ACLR with a body mic. Although it's a smaller sized guitar, probably about a 15/16. Despite the smaller body size, it sounds GREAT, both acoustic and plugged in! It plays like a dream, too. A couple friends of mine have Martins and Taylors that I don't even like to pick up because they don't play as nicely, both in action and sound. I did read some other posts that mentioned that the "GC" may mean Guitar Center, but mine was not from there. I think it means "Grand Concert." Well, I'll shut up and see if anyone has any info for me...including MSRP, cases, etc. Give me anything you've got! 8)

It looks like the transparent blue color was limited to 120, not the whole series. Went to NAMM in 2003 or 2004, MSRP was set at $899.99. It was in the Grand Series as well. IDK Why GC in the model # would stand for Guitar Center? Anyways, that's all I can find. Please show us a picture, as well!

Cool, thanks! I was pretty sure it was a limited run on the finish. I will post some pics later.

Since I was also curious about this acoustic-electric guitar, I searched the web and it seems that was made at 2003. Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is granted the rights to develop, produce, market and distribute Gretsch products, worldwide. That was a busy year for new Fender products. If it is rare, I guess it is since it was not really discussed any where on the net.

Well Cn-240sce is a classical guitar. A hybrid nylon-string that actually isn’t a classical guitar because it has a soft cutaway and a slightly thinner neck profile that’s easier on the fretting hand.
