I've had my Kingman 10 for a year now and taking it in to have it's first setup today. The action was high when I bought it and has not changed. It's just an issue now wtb my playing. So, does anyone know how long a setup takes? Same day? Or will I need to leave my guitar with him?

Okay, well, I should have asked for advice sooner than the day of service. My bust. :( Nonetheless, I got my guitar back late this afternoon. It really sounds great, and the action is lower. :)

Beach 1,

How do you like your kingman 10? It's an awesome looking guitar. Was wondering about the sound/tone and playability. Have not been able to find one at a store or on the web to hear.

I'm getting back into guitar playing after a 40 yr sabbatical.

Would it be a good starting guitar? Anyone with experience with this guitar your veiw point is appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry for such a late reply. I really love playing it and would buy it again. I have only been playing a year now and like the sound. People who see it like it and and want to play it. The tropical beach feel is great too.

Setup on a acoustic is not to difficult to learn. It's a set of new strings tune to pitch, and rarely a truss rod adjustment rarely. Once you learn how to install strings and tune to pitch most your set up is done. On rare occasion you may have to tighten or loosen the truss rod to get the bow(concave) in the neck appropriate. Doing these things will save you a lot of money and will allow you to keep your acoustic guitar playable for as long as you live. Another option is if you have a friend who can do it for free being that it’s so easy, you can get them to do it. Be aware, I had a friend who took advantage of this service and I avoid goldbrickers.

PS, if your sound board is shaped up (risen) and the action has risen a lot, that is a major repair, not aset up. Some people grind down the saddles to lower the action but it changes the tone of the guitar and does not address the real issue of the sound board and or neck being out of alingment.
