I just started to use my Fender Electric acoustic guitar. Now right off I gotta say Im a real dummy about this stuff. Anyway I put in a new battery (I bought two pack of 9 volts) but the Red light wont stay on. If I move the battery back and forth the Red light will flicker but will not remain lit. By the way I dont have the manual that may have come with it so my question is, is there and on/off switch on these things? If so where is it located. The problem is with the light...can anyone give me some advice less taking it to a guitar shop.??

Acoustic guit with onboard preamp are switch ON when you plug your guitar wire on the jack. There is a switch contact on the jack wich put battery ON.

I believe the previous reply was trying to tell you that the preamp is designed to turn itself on when a plug is inserted in the output jack. That's how the Fishman Presys that came with my new CD220SCE works. I think that red light may just flicker to let you know that the battery is seated properly. I likely also works to let you know when the battery is getting low by flashing or something.

These are just guesses based on my own limited understanding of these things. For the best info try going to the Support menu, if your guitar and preamp are relatively current models you should be able to download a PDF of the manual for it.

Good luck.

Notsure about the Fenders but the battery light in my Freshman comes on when the battery is dying. So I might assume that when you are moving the battery, the light is going red when the contacts of the battery are being weakened by the 'wiggling'.

Generally, electro acoustics are 'off' until they are plugged in then the cable being inserted switches it on.
