Anyone out there help me with my tone? I play a stratacoustic in a function band (i'm a student, it's the best I can do), and it has a tendancy to sound a bit harsh. I'm going straight into the desk, no amp. I've recently been running it through a boss me-50 for a touch of reverb and compression and it's helped, but its still not quite there. Any thoughts?

Cheers in advance.

An accoustic amp fixed my problem with harshness.

Can you recommend a good acoustic amp? I've had Marshall amps for my electric, are they any good for acoustics?

Marshall acoustic amps are good. I haven't looked for an acoustic amp in a while, does Fender make one?

Kustom's are OK. I'd look more at the major brands.

Fender makes the Acoustasonic series. Great sounding amps IMHO.

Check out the Acoustasonic series amps:

You may also want to keep a close eye out for SWR's Blonde series:

Bring your Stratacoustic with you when you try these. And as always, trust your ears!

Hi,
It has the Fishman Classic Four?...I bring down the Presence a bit past middle.

I hear you on the "price" of the guitar, but you know what? I love mine, and I have many other high dollar axes to choose from.

the nicest sounding amp i have seen for the price are roland ac-60 ... 500 bucks well spent .. i work in a shop and have sold 10 000 dollar guitars plugging in to that and ive sold 100 dollar guitars with it ... i play live with it too ... well worth trying out... as far as fixing your tone... sell that guitar and buy something else .. i love fender but there acoustic guitars are not somthing they should be proud of

If you're happy with the levels you get going direct, you don't need an amp: you need a good sounding DI.

The LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI delivers a lot of flexibility wrapped around a good transformer, I've heard good things about the Aphex 1401 pedal, and the Radial Engineering JDI boxes are built around Jensen transformers for a very smooth sound (these are widely regarded as the best DI you can buy).

You can grab any of these for $100 to $170 and improve your tone radically without changing your stage set-up or hauling an amp.
