Hi, I traded a bass I'd built for a Fender Telecoustic last summer, that had a broken truss rod. Interesting learning experience, now the neck has a new trussrod with an old style bullet trussrod nut - had to remove the little plastic liner for the factory unit. Seems it had been over tightened, and being turned down at the nut to a smaller diameter that was the weak point, so using the larger bullet seemed in order. I also put some carbon fiber under the fingerboard, which raised it up slightly, making me have to increase the height of the saddle just a little bit. I raised the saddle with a few small brass shims.
Seems that now it's all together and plays OK, but electronic response is not so good. The bass E string is extremely loud, the A and D strings are barely audible, and the G, B, and high E are right in between, so they are a good volume for usability. I was wondering if this could be from raising up the saddle with brass shims? Are there maybe individual peizo pickups and I'm not getting good enough contact right at these strings? Or are all of the electronics on these just a bit out of whack? I suppose I could just cut a new saddle and check, but thought I'd see if anyone else has seen this in the Fender electric-acoustics? It would be nice to be able to use it as an ELECTRIC-acoustic.
