:?: I've got a question and I hope someone can help me. I've got a Starcaster Fender elec box.I love the sound it puts out but it tires my left hand very quickly. I know it's practice guatar for learning but I can only go a half hour on it while I can do my hard body all day. Help!

In my experience, playing the acoustic is just naturally harder on the muscles of the hand/arm, kind of an endurance thing. The strings are heavier on an acoustic which means that the action is typically a little higher than an electric to avoid buzzing, all of which combined make it more work to push down the strings. Kind of the nature of the beast.

I had an acoustic that I played for two years before ever getting an electric so I worked my way in with the hard stuff first. That was based on advice given from an old player I knew. And I'd been playing bass for alot of years prior to guitar too, which may also have helped in the muscle control dept.

I would take your acoustic to the nearest dealer or luthier and be sure that it's set up properly and the action is as low as possible, that'll make it easier while you learn.

Keep at it, like anything it gets easier.
