I wrote to Fender to try to get any information on the numbers of my '68 Palomino and came up with nothing. It seems that they really didn't track acoustic serial numbers well, or at all, back then.

So I'm wondering if we can try to make some sense of the serials and/or part numbers of early acoustics by posting them all here. If we get enough posts from people who know the dates of their guitars maybe we can construct some type of reference.

My bolt on neck has the following info on it.
'B751' - stamped in ink
'Inspected' - stamped in ink
'127' - punched into the wood.

On the body under the neck is:
'H.R' - hand written in marker
'Palomino' - stamped in ink
The next 2 stamps are hard to make out but I think they are:
'B751' and '5689' - stamped in ink

The neck block inside the guitar, above where the broomstick attaches is:
'48' - stamped in ink

The only thing that jumps out at me so far is that 'B751' seems like a stamp to match that neck to that body.

Ideas?

yeah, hey man, ive got a fender concert acoustic that was said to be a 1970 model. i was told by a guy who knows about older guitars it was a 64 to 67 because of the original kluson deluxe tuners. he said around that time fender went to their own backward f tuners. i checked around and have seen a 69 acoustic with f tuners. im not pullin the neck off,i aint takin no chances on turning a fine flatop into firewood.my # on the back shield is o2363 but fenders dating said it was a 54. i know thats wrong. thats all the info i could dig up. i would like to know for sure about mine also.i guess ill have to find a luthier who worked at fender in the 60s.its a real head scratcher
