I have a Fender Montara I recently purchased. Its an electric acoustic made around 90-92. I wanted to adjust the truss rod but the allen head is stripped off. I used a 5mm wrench but it turns freely inside the nut. My 5.5mm will not go in. Can the nut be removed and replaced or is there another fix?

The Montara has the truss rod adjustment accessed through the sound hole right? Replacing the rod in a set neck like this is pretty expensive :(
Could be a good project to do yourself though if handy since the Montara is not an expensive model.

Not sure about the Hex nuts but the slotted nuts can just be changed for one of the same width/thread.

To remove your old nut, have you considered cutting a slot into it to fit a flat headed screwdriver?
