Hi!

I bought an Acoustic-electric Fender guitar from an authorized Fender dealer a few years ago.

I was unexperienced and I bought the guitar out of impulse, 'cause I liked the looks of it.
It was my first acoustic, and I wasn't familiar with the Fender models at the time (I'm still not...)

Well, my point is, since then, I haven't never seen a reference to that guitar on the Fender website.

The model on the inside label of the guitar is AG-03, with serial nr. CS03020637.
I think I bought it about 5 or 6 years ago.

My question is: Did I buy a genuine Fender or did I get ripped off?

Below are some pics of the guitar.

Thanks in advance.

It should be easy enough to determine whether or not it is genuine or a copy simply by playing it and listening to the sound. There is no substitute for real Fender quality, and you should be able to hear it right away.

I own this guitar and bought mine from an authorized Fender dealer. The owner of the store is a personal friend so he told me the background on the AG-03. This guitar was made for either the 2001 or 2002 NAM show (I can't remember which one for sure). There were only 500 of them made total and they were sent to Fender dealers via a lottery system so not all Fender dealers got them. We paid $350 for mine when it was brand new. It also came in Red along with the natural bird's eye maple you have pictured. I have the Natural color and a friend of mine bought the red one. You DID NOT get ripped off! :D Keep that guitar as long as you can.

except for the headstock and electronics its almost like my daughters montara. it has a remarkable tone and since a little tweak and lighter strings play very smooth you can see it here in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATdCFhntE9Y

I definitely agree with jon here. The sound should be enough as an evidence for you to know if it is really original. I guess it's a lesson to you as well, don't just buy a guitar just because it looks good. Strum it and listen to the sound it makes. And from there, you will know if it's original or not. :)
