Hi!

I'll be buying a new acoutic guitar soon. I'm confused whether to take the fender CD140SCE or the Takamine G440C. My bro has a Fender and he say's take the Tak. but I like the CD140SCE. I looked around on the net and a lot of people say Fender electrics are great but not the acoustic guitars and most people vote for the Takamine. Need some advice from someone who's used both the models I mentioned or atleast one of them. Thanks a lot people.

Cheers!

Well I've played and enjoyed both brands but different models. I own two Takamine guitars so i say Takamine is better. Really though if you think about it Takamine is owned by Fender now so either one is only as good as the materials it's made of but keep in mind Takamine is an acoustic only brand while Fender is really better known for it's electrics. If you get a Tak you won't look back..well unless you passed a Martin or Taylor.

Hi!

Thanks a lot. I'll check out the Takamine guitar. Need one more suggestion. Should I go for a laminate top or a solid top. The Fender has a solid top and that's the only thing that draws me to it. Sound wise I feel both are same. Also, is it safe to order guitars online. I live in a place where its difficult to get all these branded guitars.

Thanks a lot again!

I believe it safe to order online..it's how I got my Sonoran SCE. None of the shops in my area carry Fender Acoustics and as an added plus, it was a hell of a lot cheaper online. Got it in one day after ordering and the shipping was a flat rate.

Then again, what exactly do you mean by safe? Safe to use a credit card? Safe to purchase from a company online? Safe to have it shipped to your house?

Hi!

You guys have been really helpful. I never expected so prompt and helpful answers. By safe I mean people who I know have told me that its better to try out a guitar before buying it. I don't have the option where I live. Some even suggested I go for a Yamaha since its available locally.

I just want to make sure that they wont send a send rate or used guitar if purchased without testing. The site I looked at (www.bajaao.com) is trustworthy as fast as credit cards are concerned. I ordered a capo to check their service. Was satisfied. Just need some reassurance before I spend about $300 on the guitar. It sure comes cheaper by $60 if I order it online.

I live in India by the way.

Thanks a lot folks.

Oh, well then I'd say go for it Dude. :)

Of course buying sight unseen can be a little tricky, but I'm sure the joy of having a nice guitar at a lower price will outweigh any concerns you might have.

With my Sonoran, it required some cleaning and of course basic tuning. But nothing major. I think you'd be happy with your choice given the fact you live in an area where selection is limited.

Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.

Hi!

Thanks again mate! I'm fully convinced now. Will go for the Fender CD140SCE. I'm traveling right now but as soon as I get back home I'll order it. Might take a week or two. Will keep you posted.

I really appreciate the advice.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone!

I have been travelling since the past three weeks on work. Finally got off and yes I finally got my new guitar too. Well, there's a little twist in the story though. While travelling I got the opportunity to check out a takamine G320 and I instantly fell in love with it. I don't know how the guys at takamine do it, though this guitar set me back only $180 (almost half the price of the fender), it blows the fender away in terms of sound and playability. Well I'm happy and extremely satisfied with it. I would recommend a takamine to anyone any day now. Personal experience. If their cheap guitars are great then imagine how their more expensive ones might sound.

Thanks a lot guys for all the advice. Fender's good but I find takamine better and a way lot cheaper. I really did save a lot of money and five years from now, when I am a much more accomplished guitar player I plan to take a takamine limited edition guitar, that is if they are stilll that good :)

Cool man! :)

Can you post some pictures of it? I'm interested in seeing it.

Looking through a copy of Acoustic Magazine this past weekend I saw an ad for them and I have to admit..they look nice!
