Hi,

Can anyone clue me in on the differences in the Sonoran range? I know the 'S' model is an acoustic but it is the electro-acoustic models I am interested in.

I tried, what looks like a basic Sonoran over the weekend (had a darker headstock and a black pick-guard) and was £249 UK (in an expensive shop - elsewhere £170). It sounded very mellow compared to a Dean Exotica (wood unknown) but the Dean had good sound separation of the individual strings. I am trying to decide between a Yamaha CPX500, the Dean and a variant of the Sonoran. I don't think I can run to a Kingman or Malibu price-wise.

I have since seen on-line the Sonoran SCE (£179) and Sonoran SCE '67 Limited edition (£270-£300+). And I see from the spec that the '67 LE has a built-in tuner and is made form Milk wood but does anyone know how Milk wood affects the sound and why/if it is worth the extra money? £90 difference seems a lot for a tuner and whatever Milk wood offers? Unless the Strat-a-like tuning pegs have been improved? Some people seemed to be reporting tuning issues with the original models?

I have tried Googling the models but there aren't many reviews and the 67 is too new, it appears, to have any. I welcome your insights.

Cheers

Bar.

Sorry I can't help you out too much.

But I will say that I've never had any tuning problems with my Sonoran SCE.

I love my Sonoran SCE. It has a very comfortable neck, durable finish and great sound plugged in or unplugged.

Thanks anyway. I guess the particular model is too new to have been looked at. Good to hear that you are pleased with your Sonoran SCE though and the tuning is stable.

The sea foam green one looks great but is unfortunately not available over here. I finally stopped deliberating and ordered a black Sonoran SCE yesterday and just have to wait for the confirmation email to find out the delivery date.
Thanks for your replies guys.
