Hey musical and knowlegeable colleagues...

...for whatever reason, after 20+ years, very nice mandolin belonging to wife who moved to the Heavenly realm, called to be found, taken out of case and played.

As a non-mandolin player, desire is to tune the 14-inch scale, double-course strings to guitar, DGBE (rather than GDAE violin-mandolin).

Has anyone done this and if so, what string gauges are best?

Thank you.

I haven't heard of that being done, but I'm just a noob mandolin player.

If you don't get any responses here, try asking at Mandolin Cafe:

http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/

They pretty much know everything there.
