Hiya

Last night at rehearsall I plugged my malibu into a Marshall stack. I realize its not the done thing usually. Basicaly I have zero acoustic guitar experience and less of amplifying the things.

I noticed the high E wouldnt ring out at all. I tried balancing all the onboard eq and amp eq. To no avail. I plugged the guitar into the cheapo vocal pa the singer uses. Its only a 100watt cheapo thing. It wasnt much better and I couldnt get much volume out of the thing at all before it started howling.

Is their something up with the piezo/preamp or do I have to go get a acoustic amp?

You could play it on a regular amp but it has to be a clean channel. I play mine thru my VT50 with gain set around 2.5 and the eq set even at half and it's a full dread and it does okay until i crank the volume up past 5 then it howls. As for the preamp just play with it until you get it where you want it. You will get alot better results with an acoustic amp. The Fender acousticonic is great and Fishman Loudbox 100 is awesome for any acoustic.

Try covering the soundhole :

I do this on a regular acoustic with a mic on it and it seems to sound more even and prevents feedback.
