Hi All:

I'm looking for a smaller bodied acoustic (parlor or auditorium sized) as a guitar to take to lessons, to gatherings, basically anywhere out of the house.

I've decided that I don't want to risk transporting my primary acoustic ('77 Gibson MK-35) unless absolutely necessary.

Since I play a lot of blues, jam and roots music, I'm thinking that the smaller body size is ideal.

I'm looking to spend up to $500, and was wondering what folks thought of the Fender FA-125S. BTW, other guitars I'm considering include: The Hohner Essential Plus Parlor (EL-SP Plus) at $249, The Seagull Coastline Grand at $397 and the Takamine G406S $399.

Here are some of the main things I'm looking for: traditional look (NO cutouts, NO on-board amplification & 3 per side headstocks please); 14 frets above the body; 'punchy', traditional blues tone (think Robert Johnson), and decent volume.

Is the FA-125S worth looking at?

Thanks in advance;
Ed

Hi Folks:

Please feel free to disregard the above request.

I've decided that I'll be getting a higher-end small bodied acoustic than anything currently offered by Fender.

It's unfortunately that there is no guitar of this type in the current Fender catalog. (I read some very favorable reviews of the discontinued Fender GA-45s).

One would think that a manufactured like Fender would certainly want a representative acoustic in the 'smaller bodied $500 to $1,000 street price range'.

I think I'll be going with either a Martin, Taylor, or Guild.

Thanks;
Ed
