I was wondereing if anyone has ever mounted a regular electric pickup like a humbucker or single coil on the top of thier acoustic? I'm thinking about trying it with an old beater of mine to see how it does. If any of you has tried it or know someone who has what all had to be done for it to work?

I'm guessing that it wouldn't have much sustain and that it wouldn't amplify the "acoustic" sound but rather produce the usual sound of the string vibrating across the poles. If the guitar had a built in conventional pickup and they were both wired into the output jack using the volume control on the built in to control the blend... Has possibilities unless you wanted to run nylon strings on it.

Let us know how it works out!

I already got it goin on with my Telecoustic Deluxe, I like to blend between the Fishman and the Single coil. Sounds very cool for slide.

As for fitting, I don't know dude, sorry, my guitar came like that.

I saw a picture of Kurt Cobain with a standard Martin Dreadnaught with regular humbuckers or P90's mounted to the top of it. Which if i'm not wrong is the same guitar he recorded the unplugged album with. I will give it a try as soon as i get the stuff together and let you all know how it does. I might want to check with a pro luthier to do it.Thanks for the replys.
