Hi guys, I picked up my first guitar in my life this weekend.. One thing I forgot to ask the salesperson is how to tune the guitar. The guitar that I picked up is the Fender CD-60CE, and it has a FTE-3TN preamp with tuner.

So how do I go about tuning it... I tried turning it on, and playing with the tuning pegs, but I am not finding any success. The arrows to the left and right of the tuner light always flicker to one side or another, but I can't land a note in the middle.

Your help is greatly appreciated... Or if you could point me in the right direction.

I have a Korg tuner and you just tighten or loosen the corosponding string (always ending by tightening) til the light turns green. simple as pie and costs about $15.

In standard tuning you would tune E, A, D, G, B, E from top to bottom. You will turn the tuning top pegs counterclockwise and the bottom pegs clockwise to tighten until the light between the arrows lights up. In some cases you might have to loosen the strings to pitch. The best thing to do is loosen all of the strings and start fresh.

Same guitar and I have not had any trouble getting the center green led to light.

Are you strings new and have they been stretched? If not they will keep going out out of tune real fast for a while.

I prefer to use my Intellitouch clamp on tuner, or a chromatic tuner pedal like the BOSS TU-2 or Fender PT-100.
They let you see where you are and how far you need to go to get in tune.

+1. This is the right way to do it with a tuner around. You just need to tighten up the strings till the green light shows up. It is much like tuning the guitar with a piano, the standard way of tuning a guitar.
