Hello, longtime lurker first time poster here.

I've got a Fender DG 22 CE acoustic I've had for years now that needs a little work. My D and B key tuners are starting to slip and I'd like to replace them. I can't, however, seem to find any information on what model they might be or who made them.

Just from taking my own measurements of the keys and comparing them the specs for keys sold over at stewmac.com they don't appear to be a standard size.

Does anyone know what make/model these were? If so, any idea where I can purchase exact replacements or something similar? Any advice on what might also work if the exact models are unable to be found? I'm sort of at a loss here as to what to do. Any help is and will be appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Non :?

I just picked up one of these last Monday... It was at a hock shop, that I have good standing in, I traded a bunch of effects I did not need traight across for it, mine is Natural colour, appears to be made of Maple? Birdsye, on the back panel, it would seem.

I got to play it live last night over a PA using the Fishman, which at first glance seemed inferior to my Ovation Elite Special, but was I wrong, my DG22CE rang loud and clear sounding very natural, not a bit electrified.

The Tuning Keys appear to be the same kind of tuning keys they put on the better Squires, and so I would imagine, if you would just buy a replacement set for a Squire, but you would have to reverese three of the keys because on a squire they are in-line.

I Imagine Fendere sells replacement hardware, they probably have a link somewhere, or else, try Musician's Friend.

Else, if I were you I would take it to the closest Luthier to where you live, as in a qualified Martin warranty Repair shop: They would be able to find the exact keys you need.

Where I live, there is Moze Guitars, and I would not trust replacing the keys myself, I would bring my guitar there and have them locate and replace the keys.

Also, you can't just buy one key, you will probably have to buy the whole set, that would make the most sense. Then, you keep the good keys from the old set and use them for emergency replacements.

Hope that helps I know it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but the tuners are just standard stock Fender tuners.

:P

Ok, these tuners are exactly like the ones on my Jackson - So they are probably easy tto find a replacement set.

Here is the entire parts page from the current catalogue:

Locking Tuners
099-0818-000 Locking Tuners—Brushed (set of 6) $79.99
099-0818-100 Locking Tuners—Chrome (set of 6) $79.99

Here is a set of Grovers for 50 dollars:

And those are better tuners than what are on the DG 22 CE!

I actually managed to get some info from a Fender rep via phone and found the exact match. Cost me about $24.99. However, since you were able to show me what size would match via looking at your Jackson, I might just go ahead and get some higher end brand. I love this acoustic, I've had it for years. I've played all sorts of guitars since I bought it and I haven't found one acoustic I'd replace it with.

I appreciate your help very much, thank you for taking the time to look around for me.

Yah I just love it, I love what it looks like and I love what it sounds like, plus it is a solid construction.

Too bad that they did not use pure Maple for the body, but, that would have knocked the price up to about 1500 dollars.

It is odd that they would use the same "micro tuners" that they use on electrics... I'm glad that you found the exact match and at a good price.

You could put regular sized tuners in there by drilling out the holes, but I would not do that unless I absolutely needed to.

The tuners they put on this are just fine, they are actually as good as any Grovers or Grover Ghosts.
